My Client Testimonials
This letter serves to record our appreciation and respect for the services provided by Mr. Jeff Sorgen, of Denison Yacht Sales, Dania Beach in Florida, in the search for and acquisition of our yacht “Windward”.
We started our search in early 2015 from our home in Cornwall in the United Kingdom, looking for a blue water capable cruiser in either the Caribbean or the East coast of the USA. After a frustrating period of owner and broker interactions, we made contact with Jeff, whose excellent service and attention to our requirements resulted in the successful acquisition of “Windward".
The features of Jeff’s service that we so much appreciated included:
- Taking time to properly understand our needs and capabilities
- Providing wise advice where we might have made sub-optimal choices
- Staying well abreast of the range of craft available at any one point in time and keeping us informed of such
- Professionally handling communications with a remote, foreign buyer operating in a different time zone
- Sourcing reliable and professional support services such as survey, yacht services and yard facilities
- Infinite patience with our endless enquiries
- Conducting professional negotiations that resulted in a fair value outcome for both Buyer and Seller
- Courteous assistance and coordination on our visit to Fort Lauderdale for the survey, sea trial and final purchase negotiations
We highly recommend Jeff’s services to both Buyers and Sellers of yachts.
...
I have worked with salesmen for years as a result of being in heavy equipment for 40 years, and have always developed an appreciation for those salesmen that like what they do and the people that they do it with. Jeff Sorgen is one of those rare individuals who likes what he does for a living and it shows in everything that he does. Ours certainly was one of the smallest deals that Jeff will do this year; the acquisition of a $140,000 sailboat where another agent was acting for the vendor.
It was not a big deal in the boat business, but we as first time buyers, received tremendous assistance from Jeff. Jeff helped us with finding a dock, in securing a qualified surveyor, in getting insurance quotes, in providing a list of basics that we would need on the boat before we took it out, etc. The list goes on and on even to the point of acting as our captain for part of the day so that my kids and grandchildren could have a boat ride before I felt qualified to take them myself.

I guess what we're saying is that Jeff has demonstrated a kindness to us as customers that will ensure our continued support of him as our sales representative in whatever we may do with our sailboat over the coming years. He is a fabulous representative of your sales organization and ensures your continued growth and success in coming years; I would have loved to have had a few of him in our other businesses.
...Jeff-
Just a short note to thank you for dealing with the purchase of my boat in such a patient and positive manner.
Our new boat is safely in the shipyard and should be launched late next week. Thank you for the "hand-holding" to ensure the boat was safely packed and transported from up north to Miami, FL.
This note is just a quick thank Jeff Sorgen for the wonderful and professional service he and Denison Yacht Sales, provided to us in the packaging of material, the promotion and the final sale of our 43' Cheoy Lee Motor sailor, SALTAIRE.
We were astounded at the interest created in the boat and very pleased with the sale and the price received.
Please know that in our travels up and down the eastern seaboard we will recommend both Jeff and Denison to our friends who are in the market to sell their boats.
Again, our best wishes to Jeff and Denison for an exceptional sale of SALTAIRE and good luck and good health in the future.
...Just a note of thanks to you for your excellent service in marketing our 2003 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2 sailboat. Once the boat was relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida you were able to find a buyer and complete the sale in just 2 1/2 months.
I am also impressed with the professional way you marketed our sailing yacht and handled the details of the sale. Please feel free to use me as a reference at any time.
..."After 4 years of sailing in the Caribbean, we decided to sell our lovely sailboat, a Morgan 462 Ketch in the United States.
We had met some nice people from New York and they said that when we wanted to sell the boat, we should contact Jeff Sorgen from Denison Yacht Sales. They had dealt with him, when they bought their boat. We contacted Jeff when we came to Fort Lauderdale, and we certainly don't regret it.
Jeff has been a nice, honest and smart yacht broker, who has helped with everything, renting a slip, hiring people to maintain the boat while we are away in Denmark.
Jeff kept us informed about sales and marketing activity and interest in our boat until the sale was a reality. A more professional and passionate yacht broker does not exist.
Warmest recommendations."
We recently purchased a sail boat through Denison Yacht Sales. Jeff Sorgen was our broker and he was truly amazing. From the beginning he started providing very personalized service. Jeff was able to find us the perfect boat for our needs and then negotiate a great deal where we ended up getting incredible value for our money. Jeff is professional, intelligent, sophisticated, and able to get the job done when the going gets difficult. He found ways of getting around obstacles for both the buyer and seller so that in the end each party felt they got what they had wanted.
Denison Yacht Sales, the company that Jeff works for, is a large company that employs their own experts who are able to provide documentation, funding, and insurance at the lowest cost and facilitates easy communications to make the transaction seamless.
We both feel that not only do we now have a great boat but that we have made a good friend, this is a sure test of whether a negotiation went well. Without any reservation, we recommend Jeff Sorgen to use as your yacht broker.
Jeff has helped our dream come true.
...I cannot thank you enough for all your help and attention to detail in process of purchasing my Hunter 420.
What was unusual, as the listing broker and as well as my buying broker, was the respect you gave to the Seller and myself, without violating the confidence of either party.
I have been sales consulting for over 35 years and found you to be honest, forthright and believable. Your organization, Denison Yachts, should be very proud of the way you represent them.
Thank you!
I wanted to write to commend your yacht broker, Jeff Sorgen, on his handling of the sale of my sailboat, Last Unicorn. Jeff was suggested as a broker by a fellow cruiser, Steve Leeds.
He indicated that Jeff was a good yacht broker and could probably sell my sailboat. I contacted Jeff, and he came to Last Unicorn and went over the boat with me and my partner, Stan. He commented on what needed to be done, in a pleasant manner, with the sale of our sailboat as his main focus. I was pleased with his demeanor, and his knowledge. In the 3 months since he became involved with Last Unicorn, he was courteous, informative, and helpful. He showed the boat a number of times (many more than the past yacht brokers that I used).
He was able to find a buyer for Last Unicorn. Jeff was helpful in the selling process, giving us pointers on how to proceed and was always available when I needed to talk to him about anything.
All in all, the experience with Jeff Sorgen was a positive one, and I wanted to let you know what a gem you have in this yacht broker.
...Jeff Sorgen was my yacht broker when I decided to sell my 53’ Amel Super Maramu sailing ketch. This boat is one primarily designed to sail around the world and, consequently, has a limited appeal to the majority of sailboat buyers making it difficult to sell. Jeff brought a wealth of knowledge not just specific to my boat, but to the world of boating in general. Jeff was also extremely helpful in locating a private dock at a reasonable cost where I could leave my boat safely given that I live 3,000 miles away from Fort Lauderdale. Furthermore, he was able to find a maintenance person qualified to look after my boat on a monthly basis. This last item was crucial for me as my boat is loaded with complicated and sophisticated systems that need to be fired up on a frequent basis to ensure they remain operational for prospective buyers. Jeff also arranged to have the boat interior re-arranged to ensure it showed in the best possible light. At one point his team did a video walk-through of the boat which showed it in the best possible light for on-line viewers. Jeff continually highlighted my boat in online advertising to make sure it got maximum exposure to potential buyers. I would highly recommend Jeff if you are looking for a yacht broker to sell your boat. He stayed with my boat and was able to find the perfect buyer for my sailing yacht. I was at one time prepared to advertise a lower price just to get rid of the boat, but Jeff provided guidance on the best pricing to get the best response from potential buyers. I feel confident recommending Jeff as an excellent choice to ensure you get the maximum sale price for your boat. He made the eventual sale a very happy day, indeed
...Jeff Sorgen was the yacht broker who sold my Catalina MKII, a 40-foot sailboat. He hired a captain to move the boat from Sarasota (where I kept the boat) to Ft. Lauderdale where there are many more buyers for this size boat. Jeff also arranged a private dock close to his office at Denison Yachting where the boat was docked at a third of the cost of keeping the boat at a marina in the area. Although the boat was in good condition and presented itself well, Jeff found some deferred maintenance which he and his contractors eliminated.
After the boat was in marketable condition, he put the boat on the market with a very thorough listing-detailed information and great pictures. He arranged a person to wash the topside and another person to clean the bottom when needed to keep it in marketable condition. Jeff advertised the boat, found the buyer and closed the transaction at a fair price to both the seller and the buyer in a matter of weeks. Jeff knows and loves boats and the business of selling them. He is a knowledgeable, experienced professional. I found Jeff to be an advisor, straight shooter and very responsive. He kept me regularly updated and was very easy to work with. As a truly professional yacht broker, Jeff is the best of the best.
I owned a 43' motor yacht that I had tried to sell on my own for a year. After putting up with a number of tire kickers and no offers, I thought I'd seek the help of a yacht broker; however, I wanted one with a good track record.
When a 43' sailboat in the next slip was sold in a couple of months, I was astounded as to how that happened so quickly. I talked to the seller and found out that the yacht broker he used also sold a trawler recently in our condo complex marina. I asked for his name and contact information and was told his name is Jeff Sorgen of Denison Yacht Sales.
I contacted Jeff and we went over my boat. He said he would be able to sell it in a few months; I was skeptical, however, I found that Jeff had just sold another trawler in my complex, so I signed the agreement. Jeff out did my expectations and after showing my boat to a number of people, had a signed buyer's offer for me in about six weeks. Between a little negotiation, getting the survey done and formally closing, it took another month. All I can say is, WOW!!! I wish I had met Jeff a year earlier.
I have dealt with other yacht brokers in the past and was less than satisfied with their results, but Jeff Sorgen out did them all. I am a very particular person in deciding who I do business with, but Jeff met all my expectations. He is a knowledgeable, professional, candid, honest, yacht broker, but above all, he has a very good track record of selling boats quickly.
If you want to sell your boat, whether it be a sailboat, trawler or motor yacht, I highly recommend my yacht broker, Jeff Sorgen.
...I would highly recommend my yacht broker Jeff Sorgen whether you’re in the market for a boat or selling one. Jeff provided immediate answers to questions and was very helpful in letting me view the boat when I needed to. He also was a warehouse of information for repair services as well as helping out on cruising information.
As the buyer, Jeff was able to make suggestions or work with me on the boat contract in setting up the timing and contents for the offer as well. Altogether he was great to work with and got things done on time and his word was good. He really did an outstanding job.
...To Denison Yacht Sales and anyone in the market to buy or sell a yacht:
Jeff Sorgen and Denison Yacht Sales got it done. After cruising aboard our 46’ Hunter sailboat for many years, it was time to return to land and we needed to sell our boat. Our situation required us to leave the boat in Florida and for us to be on the other side of the country.
Right from the beginning, and through to the very end, Jeff Sorgen and Denison Yacht Sales helped. Jeff did a great job helping us identify what we needed to do to get the boat ready to sell. He also referred us to a dock and a maintenance team to ensure the boat would be safe and maintained in our absence.
Jeff prepared a great presentation of the boat for its listing on Denison’s website. He then stayed on top of the activity and the market.
When an offer came, Jeff negotiated a price acceptable to us. Then he stuck with the deal until the last dollar had cleared the banks.
When I’m back in the market, I will be calling on Jeff and Denison Yacht Sales again. I recommend that everyone in the market call them too!
...When we were looking for a yacht broker in the United States on YachtWorld we did not know who to choose. Several yacht brokers responded, but Jeff also responded very quickly and answered all our questions (and we had a lot of questions). He likes what he does and he’s good at it!
He took us thru the whole procedure of importing the boat in the USA and put it on the market. He took us to the Customs and helped us with everything.
Thanks for your excellent service and kindness.
"It is quite unusual for me to write a letter of commendation, but the service of one of your yacht brokers, Jeff Sorgen, was such that I feel his efforts should be recognized.
My wife, Cindy, and I just closed on a Hatteras 52' MY and Jeff represented us. This is our first big boat and we were quite naive in what to look for. Jeff took the time to explain so many items, answer so many questions, and drive us to look at a number of boats that we expressed an interest in. His knowledge of boats, his low pressure sales techniques, and his pointing out potential issues really impressed us.
We interviewed several other brokers who wanted us to work with them, but Jeff was the only one to take the time to educate us and make us feel comfortable in buying the boat. Please express my compliments to Jeff and you should know that he represents you and Denison Yachts very well. We will use Jeff for all our future boating sales/purchase needs.
Thank you!"
...“I would like to take a few minutes which is nothing compared to the many hours you have invested in believing in, marketing, showing, and selling our sailboat, ROOTS.
I have to mention that you always told me, and honestly represented to me and the buyers, about the changing market and the position of ROOTS in that market. You never counted the hours and always took the time to share and motivate myself.
I highly recommend you to any buyer or vendor, and have already referred a buyer to you, Ron Laramee, who has told me he is already very happy with your involvement in his boat search, and the experience you have demonstrated after looking at boats with you.
Yes, they say buying a boat is one of the best moments for a boat owner but I say it will also be a must to sell a boat with you. You were right, and always told me ‘Michael, I will sell your boat.’”
...Nancy and I would like to thank you for all your efforts in helping us buy our Albin 32+2 Command Bridge. We realized that our top budget buying price, was far away from the Seller's bottom selling price.
You advised us to weigh all the issues, since we were also evaluating other boats in Connecticut and in Florida. We feel that you helped very much in bringing the price for the boat we picked to purchase. You and all of your staff helped greatly in our endeavors to complete the purchase and I would recommend you and Denison Yacht Sales to anyone I know who is thinking of buying a boat.
...Jeff,
You certainly know the market, and I was impressed by the prospective buyers you sent my way. Your listing of my boat was well done, and you were spot on in the suggested asking price.
The most remarkable part of this sale is the fact that 'Second Wind's' homeport is on Lake Ontario (I am a resident of New York State, you (my yacht broker) are located in Florida, and the buyer lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
As this was happening, I thought this sale was going to be a complicated process. But you handled it very well, and the closing was completed with absolutely no problems.
Thanks for your excellent service.
Jeff Sorgen assisted me every step of the way in the purchase of my 1998 Sea Ray 56 Sedan Bridge. He met me promptly for the initial viewing and was candid and informative. We had numerous conversations about the boat prior to my offer and he guided me through each step. Jeff was the consummate professional at every step of the process. His guidance and knowledge led me to what I believe is the perfect match for my home and my life. I would not hesitate to utilize Jeff again and highly recommend him to anyone shopping for a new or pre-owned vessel.
...I wanted to thank Jeff for all the great work he did in selling my beautiful boat. He went above and beyond in helping me. Not only did he connect me with great teams of people, but he also found my catamaran dockage while it was being sold. Jeff made selling my boat very easy. His honesty and integrity throughout this were so appreciated and refreshing. If a recommendation is ever needed to sell someone else’s pride and joy as he did mine, I am happy to have them contact me.
...It is with great satisfaction that I express my sincere thanks for all of Jeff's assistance with the purchase of my new yacht.
As a lifelong business person, fulfilling functions from salesman to CEO of several companies, I have grown to recognize merit among both colleagues and employees. Should this process have been an examination of integrity, honesty, humility, and professionalism, you would have earned an A+!
Admittedly, it is very rare that I engage in such letters of recommendation, as this comes unsolicited. Moving forward, I am certain there will be questions which will arise, and Jeff will continue to be my “consultant" on such related topics. Further, it will be my pleasure to make personal referrals and introductions of individuals who make inquiry of my experience with both Denison Yachting and Jeff Sorgan!
You will continue to have my support!
As the Irish saying goes, “May the wind be at your back!”
